The Food System Working Group brings together learning institutions, businesses and NGOs in the Stellenbosch food system. We aim to address the question – “How do we move from local food relief to sustainable food security in Stellenbosch?”
2024 Focus areas
Partnering with Stellenbosch University Agri Sciences to provide Social Impact-capacity support for agricultural initiatives
Facilitating collaboration between educational institutions and the Agricultural sector to bridge the gap between education/training and industry needs
Supporting the development of the Stellenbosch Agrihub, particularly through the Lynedoch Co-op, to strengthen local food systems
Identifying short-term job opportunities through the IDC project to address immediate needs and stimulate economic growth

Further development and implementation of initiatives in 2023 with Stellenbosch Food Actors and other relevant stakeholders to address ongoing challenges and opportunities in food security
